TBR: USF MSoccer vs. Butler

Complete Team Effort Pushes Bulls Past Bisons

The Bulls, 1-0, is set to face Butler in the first game of the Adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington, Indiana (game begins at 5 PM on Friday). Butler enters the match at 1-1 on the young season.

Butler is a young team, with 7 true freshmen on the roster, but is looking to return to the NCAA tournament again. This will be a step up in competition for the Bulls in this game.

One of the top returners for Butler is junior midfielder Jared Timmer. He scored the first goal of the year for the Bulldogs and led the Big East last year with 9 assists in 20 matches (scored 2 goals as well). Another player to watch is sophomore midfielder Isaac Galliford who had 2 shot attempts in their last game against Louisville. He had 6 assists and 3 goals last year. They will be a real test Harrison Devenish-Meares and the USF defense.

In net is redshirt senior Eric Dick who has allowed one goal in the first two games this year while making 8 saves. Last year he played in all 20 matches, helping Butler reach the postseason. For the young USF offense that is relying on a lot of freshmen this year, it will again be a big step up in competition and a great way for Coach Butehorn to gauge how far his team has progressed throughout exhibition through the first week of the year. It will also be a great road test as well to get the young players used to the grind of NCAA schedule.
